Love this. This is exactly how the dynamics are in my family, and many people just don’t get it and call it “weird".

I’ve been married three times, and have had step children with two of those men. To this day, our gatherings include my exes, their current partners, ex-wife (because she’s my step-kids' mother) and her new husband, and former step-children that I still consider my own.

Outsiders just coming in to the fold of our family are dumbfounded.
